Save the ballerina, save the news…
Earlier this week Sky Broadcasting brought in the English National Ballet (which they actually sponsor) to educate their newsreaders on the importance of having a good posture and to show them some excercises to increase their strenght and confidence in general.

Any dancer, or athlete for that matter, will tell you that their core excercises can benefit anyone - and the truth is, they most likely can. On reflection, there have to be few core excercises that, when done under expert tuition, can’t benefit the general population’s wellbeing, and not just in terms strenght and fitness but also self esteem.
All London Rockets Cheerleaders will tell you that through our squad conditioning and stretching sessions, they have increased their own fitness levels as well as their core strenght, in some cases beyond what they anticipated on joining the squad. This will of course be true of most squads that compete as the type of skills we perform require the individual to be fit and strong but for London Rockets this remains a real achievement as we only practice once a week.
I have posted a few examples or our squad members doing stretches below and know that they will not mind me telling you all that it was through sheer will and determination that they achieved these ’shapes’. We will be aiming to train them to achieve these in stunts by the end of the month, just in time for what we hope will be some very special performances.
Please don’t try it at home unless you’ve been taught the correct methods - overstretching can lead to injury.

Astrid’s ‘Scale’.

Danica’s ‘Scorpion’.
Well done to both of you!
