The London Rockets are an adult cheerleading squad with not much in common apart from cheerleading – a really diverse group of people that, honestly, would probably not be friends if it wasn’t for cheer!
Why am I telling you this? Well, it only occurred to me the other day. There is no typical ‘cheerleader’ when it comes to London Rockets.
A fact that was demonstrated to me by one of our newest additions, an American studying here in London who – in her own words – ‘joined for a joke’ because she’d never cheer at home in the US.
Since joining the squad she has appeared on national television, been featured in print media twice and is now training for a national competition. There’s an irony joke in there somewhere.
Anyway, to cut a long story short – we are recruiting for our very exciting 2007 events and competition season and are opening up our sessions to anyone who wants to learn to cheer – no experience needed!
